It’s nearly time for the kickoff of the IoT World Hackathon – where some of the world’s best minds will battle it out in a 30-hour app building contest at the Moscone Center West in San Francisco.
For those unfamiliar with it, the Hackathon is a not-for-profit event created with the aim of encouraging teams of technologists and innovators to attempt to shape, or in some cases re-shape, the Internet of Things. Within the frantic 30 hour period, developers, designers, entrepreneurs, programmers and inventors (some participants could be classified as all of the above!) will conjure and build prototypes, and then present them to a team of expert judges for a chance to win prizes, recognition, publicity and more.
In particular, we can’t wait to see innovations in the field of Remote Monitoring and Control (perhaps like the winning idea in our #IoTMaker competition) which can be game changers for the Industrial Internet of Things, smart cities, the environment, and even safety. So we’ll be looking out for keen participants with a focus on these sectors, as well as any other innovations that could help improve the world we live in.
In fact, we’ll be doing more than just keeping an eye out; we’re offering support to Hackathon hopefuls at the show. As one of the event’s sponsors, we’re providing three of our own specialist mentors who’ll assist groups or individuals who decide to build their projects using one of our Concept Boards throughout the event.
