Gemalto Accelerate 2017 APAC Edition Celebrates Success, Culture and the Future of Digital Security

This year’s APAC sales and partner kickoff in Chiang Mai, Gemalto Accelerate 2017, brought together over 70 Gemalto partners from all over the Asia Pacific region  to collaborate with and hear from Gemalto’s leadership team on the business strategies and technology vision for the future. It was a unique opportunity for us to share and celebrate with our partners the business success that Gemalto’s 3-Step, Secure The Beach vision achieved in 2016 based on strong 29% year to year growth in the region.

Developing new opportunities also played a big part of the discussion. We brought in our experts from across the globe to discuss the latest market trends and opportunities, in addition to the new challenges we face in a changing and dynamic market. This event created a dialogue to better understand how we could help our customers secure their digital data and identities in the cloud, across the Internet of Things, and in the developing blockchain ecosystem.

Gemalto Accelerate serves as a global information exchange program to hear and learn from one another in business but also in a celebration of culture. We not only celebrated the acceleration of shared objectives but the global representation of diversity in culture, tradition, education and geography. Since Thailand was the host country for our APAC Gemalto Accelerate Conference, it was only natural to recognize the Songkran Festival, Thailand’s New Year, by dressing in floral patterned shirts and colorful outfits to represent the local culture.

Business aside, it was important to give back and support our local communities and people, a core value of our company. Thanks to the team and our partners, we were able to raise several thousand dollars for the Yakstrong fund, which was particularly near and dear to us as a Gemalto family. In addition to giving back, we also wanted to celebrate and recognize our extended teams, our partners, on their accomplishments over the past year.

We also celebrated our exceptional APAC partner network at an annual Channel Partner Awards ceremony and it was my honor to share the details of this year’s winners.

APAC Gemalto Partners - Top Contributors of the YearThis year we decided to recognize two distributors and jointly awarded Exclusive Networks (formerly TSI) in India and Nera in Singapore as Gemalto’s “2016 APAC Top Contributor of the Year”.

Exclusive Networks was recognised for their double-digit growth last year. The Exclusive Networks team wa highly motivated and dedicated and achieved this as result of their value based selling approach. The team performed exceptionally during a National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI) Unified Payment Interface project by performing a very timely POC to participating banks.

Similarly, Nera, a long-standing Identity and Data Protection solutions partner, performed very well last year and also showed strong double-digit growth over 2015 as one of the top revenue contributors in APAC for 2016. The team at Nera consistently developed their knowledge base and constantly invested in their sales, architectural design as well as pre- and post-sales technical support expertise.

Gemalto Solution Partner of the YearLooking at the next category – this year Japanese reseller, Intelligent Wave Inc. (IWI) achieved the “2016 APAC Solution Partner of the Year” not only for their consistent phenomenal growth year over year but also for their vision and understanding of the evolving payment technology market and integrating our hardware security modules to provide a seamless payment processing solution.

In our “2016 Rising Star of the Year” category, the award went to Technobind achieving triple digit growth over 2015.

Technobind’s success can be attributed to their proactive approach in reaching out to insurance companies looking to digitally sign insurance policies in accordance with the IRDSA mandate. The agile team at Technobind provided well balanced support from initial engagement phase through to execution and post-sales support

Lastly, I would like to congratulate our Malaysian distributor Blue Fortress who won our “2016 APAC Partner Marketing Excellence Award of the Year” in acknowledgement of their exceptional marketing efforts during 2016, driving a solid number of opportunities including the highest revenue opportunity compared to other partners in the ASEAN sub-region.

We saw tremendous commitment to our business from our channel partner network resulting in the further expansion of Gemalto’s reach in the identity and data protection market.

We recently announced the findings of Breach Level Index, which revealed that 1,792 data breaches led to almost 1.4 billion data records being compromised worldwide during 2016, an increase of 86% compared to 2015. With the ever-increasing number of data breaches in recent years as well as the changing data protection legislative landscape, we are well-positioned to assist businesses in APAC to protect their data and help them reach their business and compliance goals. Once again, congratulations to all our award winners, I look forward to another successful year with our exceptional partner network in APAC.
