You may have seen from our tweets that we were honored to have Fleur Pellerin, Minister Delegate with responsibility for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, Innovation and the Digital Economy of France, visit our stand earlier. As someone whose mission is to turn France into one of Europe’s premier hubs for tech startups, it goes to show just how much value is being given to technological innovation on the global stage.
Everyone has heard of Silicon Valley and other burgeoning tech start-up hubs, whether in Berlin, Tel Aviv, London or in garages and teenage bedrooms all around the world. For these hubs to truly take off, however, and ultimately add value to a country economically speaking, we need to invest at multiple levels, whether political, cultural, financial or societal.
From “La French Tech” digital city accreditation phase to supporting R&D with a National Investment Program, there are many ways to highlight the opportunities that technology offers. Skills, progress, evolution, talent, economic success – these are all factors to take into consideration.
That’s why it’s encouraging to see Fleur Pellerin throwing her weight behind these initiatives in France. And why we’re honored to be considered among the innovative technology providers with a major presence in France.
What else do you think should be done to foster more of a technological innovative and entrepreneurial scene in France, Europe and around the world? Tell us your thoughts below or on Twitter #GemaltoMWC.
