Going cashless in Singapore

Last updated: 30 September 2015

If you’re a regular follower of our blog and news, you will be aware of our involvement in the Isis mobile commerce platform. Our Trusted Service Manager (TSM) solution has been chosen to secure the platform, a joint venture between AT&T Mobility, T-Mobile USA and Verizon Wireless, which aims to bring secure NFC mobile payments and services to consumers.

Well, we are also providing TSM to the three main operators in Singapore. My colleague Winston Yeo, VP Mobile Financial Services, appears here on AM Live!, Singapore’s Channel News Asia, to give a demo of NFC technology on your mobile and answer questions from the presenters around security concerns.

For those too busy to watch the full clip, the demo focuses on the mobile wallet and how your mobile devices can be used to pay for a wide range of products and services. What is key is that the solution doesn’t hamper the user’s experience. It must be convenient.

When questioned on the security of the solution and payment option, the fact that your ‘card’ is on your mobile means that you are far more likely to notice when it goes missing than if it were one of the many cards in your wallet. Banks can easily suspend services, once you’ve flagged that your mobile device has been stolen or lost – all it will take is a mindset change in order to embrace this new, secure and potentially very convenient technology in Singapore, as well as further afield.

To see a demo in person, come along to our stand at Mobile World Congress in Hall 8, Stand 8A102.
