MWC 2018: How to make the most out the show experience

Barcelona is one of the most exciting cities in the world to visit. Not only does it mix fantastic culture with great attractions, but next week, it’s going to be home to the world’s biggest mobile show. Whether you’re a seasoned veteran or a first time visitor, navigating the Fira and everything the city has to offer can be daunting. Here’s our whistle-stop guide to making the most out of your Mobile World Congress experience.

People to follow

Mark Scott – the chief technology correspondent at Politico will be covering the announcements with an additional focus on the telecoms policy

Ben Wood – analyst from CCS Insight who is always has that right up to the minute, inside track on all the biggest announcements

Rory Cellan-Jones – alongside his BBC colleagues, he will cover all the biggest launches. Especially handy if you’re interested in the consumer side of MWC.

Day-to-day tips

The halls at the Fira are vast. So here are our top tips for ensuring your visit is as productive as possible. We recommend you take:

  • At least two travel chargers
  • All the necessary printed work documents you’ll need out there
  • Extra USB / Lightning cables
  • A back-up mobile battery pack to top-up on power in the afternoons
  • Cash for day-to-day expenses, even though MWC is very contactless payment friendly
  • Your comfiest shoes as you’ll be doing a lot of walking
  • Euros! But also, all ticket holders will be given free public transport tickets for the duration of the show, so hop on-board!
